Purpose : I, Prof. Amar Mohanty, University of Guelph, ON, Canada, propose to institute an award for Woman of the Year in Chemistry in Orissa Chemical Society in the name of my wife, Prof. Manju Misra, with an endowment fund of three lakh rupees. The award recognizes women’s leadership in science and education and celebrates women’s contribution to the advancement and promotion of chemistry. The ‘Terms and Conditions’ of the award are as follows: 1. The name of the award will be “Prof. Manju Misra Woman of the Year in Chemistry Award”. 2. Women serving in any educational or research institute of Odisha with a minimum qualification of Ph.D. in Chemistry are eligible to apply. They shall have demonstrated contribution to advancing chemistry through research publications in any branch of chemical sciences. 3. The applicant will be above 40 years (below 65 years) of age on 31st July of the current academic year for which the award is given. Proof of age shall be furnished along with the application. 4. The award may be given in 2021, for which OCS will be credited with Rs 15,000/- in addition to the endowment fund of 3 lakh rupees. 5. The date of research papers published/accepted for publication (with DOI number) submitted for the award shall be on or before 31st July of the current academic year for which the award is given. 6. Applications must be accompanied by a list of publications in refereed journals during the last 5 years and three copies of reprints of at least two publications, considered significant by the candidate and published in the last 5 years. 7. The award will be given at the Annual Conference of the OCS or any other OCS conference. 8. The awardee will receive a cash prize of Rs 10,000/- and a citation. She will be required to give a presentation of 20 minutes duration on her research work relevant to the paper(s) based on which the award was made. 9. Prof. Amar Mohanty and/or his family members will be intimated of the above award every year before the award is given. 10. A member of the family may be requested to attend the award meeting. 11. The OCS can suitably modify any of the above guidelines while instituting the award.
