Purpose : I, Sri Biswaprakash Nayak, son of Late Prof. Bimbadhar Nayak, on behalf of my family members, desire to institute an award in the Orissa Chemical Society in memory of my father. Prof. Nayak was a distinguished Professor of Chemistry. He was also the President of the Orissa Chemical Society. We pledge a sum of Rs 2,00,000/-(two lakh only) as a corpus fund, which we wish to pay to the OCS to institute an award. We suggest the following terms and conditions for the award: (1) The name of the award will be 'Prof. Bimbadhar Nayak Memorial Award'. (2) The year from which the award may be instituted is 2020. (3) The award will be given to the author(s) of a research paper published in a journal of high impact factor, as decided by the OCS Awards Committee. Only the papers published during the period of one year preceding the date of the OCS advertisement for the award will be considered. (4) The area of the published research papers shall be from physical/theoretical/computational chemistry. (5) There will be a cash prize of Rs 5000 (rupees five thousand only). The first author will receive 50% of the award money, and the rest of the award money will be equally shared by the co-authors. (6) A certificate will be issued to the awarded paper mentioning the name of the award, the title of the published paper (with details), and the name(s) of the author(s). (7) One of the authors (preferably the first author) will present a lecture on the subject of the published paper for a suitable duration as decided by the OCS. The presenter of the paper, who is one of the authors (preferably the first author), shall receive the certificate on behalf of all the authors of the paper. (8) The OCS may give this award in the Annual or Regional Meetings or any other state-level OCS meeting. (9) If the OCS accepts the award proposal and the award is given from 2020, I shall pay the corpus fund of 2 lakh and additional costs incurred in 2020 (actual expenses). (10) My family may be intimated of the above selection every year before the award is given. (11) A member of the family may be allowed to attend the award meeting free of any registration charges. (12) The OCS may suitably modify any of the above suggestions while instituting the award.
